The 3-Day is almost here!

I can't believe that this time tomorrow morning, I will be headed to the opening ceremonies of the Breast Cancer 3-Day! It seems like forever ago, yet it seems like just yesterday we were sitting in the restaurant where Jen said she was thinking about doing the 3-Day. WOW!!! And here it is!!!!! I will pack my bag this morning, stretch throughout the day, and drink LOTS of water, of course! I am so excited!

Major Milestone

This weekend was the big 18/15 training walk. We tagged along with team No Walker Left Behind and did their trail for Saturday and Sunday. We started out Saturday morning at 6:00am at Dunlop Park in North Arlington.

It was a long day of walking, walking and more walking...and my pedometer rounded us out at a little over 19 miles that day. We finished at 1:00...not too bad but an hour after everyone else. There were some walkers that only did the first 9 and some that turned around after they were done - but we completed ALL of it!!!

When I got home I was not feeling great - I had the chills and couldn't warm up. Saturday morning was very cool and no sun. My legs and feet ached. I took a long bath - which I don't normally do - and a long shower. After a nap, I knew I had to move so I wouldn't get tighter than I already was. By that evening and some Advil later, I was feeling much better.

Sunday started at 6:30 at Dunlop Park. We walked down Green Oaks and then through River Legacy, Collins, Brown, Lincoln and then Green Oaks again. Here's a shot of us at our midway point taking a break. Still smiling....
The pedometer finished at 16.23 miles. We were exhausted but felt much better about our walk on Day 2. Our confidence is up and we know we CAN do this 3Day thing!

Hills and Heels and Him Half Marathon!

I completed my 2nd half marathon this morning - YAHOO! I've been wanting to do one for a long time. This one was originally scheduled for May, however, it rained so much the day before that much of the trail was underwater. They rescheduled it for today and I am so thankful I did it! My trainings now will focus on running during the week and long walks on the weekends. We're less than 6 weeks out from the Breast Cancer 3-Day! I've got some long walks in my future!

Pappadeaux Geaux Pink!

We had our final fundraiser, Pappadeaux Geaux Pink, last night at the Pappadeaux in Arlington. MANY thanks to Milton Smartt and Tomi Herl at Pappadeaux for going above and beyond to make our event such a huge success. We had awesome and fun music from the Foxwell Trio. We had a raffle of a $100 gift card to Pappadeaux and a night's stay at the Historic Stockyards Hotel in Fort Worth. It was a great event!

Crop for a Cure was a Complete Success!

Our Crop for a Cure was a complete success - we had over 60 women scrapbooking all day together. EVERYONE walked away with at least one door prize, if not more! The food was fantastic, the fellowship was wonderful, and the fundraising was over the top! We raised over $3000 in that one day. We have exceeded our $10,000 goal! Go TEAM A NEW DAY!

Two Days Until Crop for a Cure!

It's Thursday morning and we are just two days from one of our major fundraisers: Crop for a Cure. We've met and made our plans, we've arranged for the food, we've gathered prizes, we've gathered auction items, we've gathered raffle items. ALL DONATED! We have 70 participants registered at this time. We've got a few things to do between now and early Saturday morning and then we're ready to ROCK for Crop for a Cure! YAHOO!
